In Ladakh, India, the root of this plant (known
locally as depgul) is roasted, crushed, and either
smoked together with tobacco (Nicotiana
tabacum) or drunk in milk. The product is called
berzeatsink and is said to have potent stimulant
and activating effects (Navchoo and Buth 1990,
320*).
