In Ladakh, the sun-dried leaves of this plant,
known as staspak, are drunk in the form of a coldwater
extract (the powder is left in the water for
about one week). The drink, called staspakchek, is
said to produce strong inebriating effects and even
to be dangerous (Navchoo and Buth 1990,320*).
